Hope all of you are having a great Memorial Day weekend, remembering who has served to protect us and also enjoying time with family or just enjoying having an extra day off work! We have been busy with yard work and cleaning inside that has been ignored too long. I did get to spend some time in the studio this weekend and created 2 cards for upcoming events. We have a niece getting married soon and thus a shower card and a niece who has a graduation open house coming up. I also got to art journal and took the design from Vicky Papaioannou. I added a couple of my personal touches to it, the shells are teeny tiny and just fit the page wonderfully. Enjoy and please leave a comment so I know you have been there. :)

Hi everyone! Please don't faint because I am posting twice in one week and not once in a year. LOL. The art journal page posted was done using the exclusive May stencils from StencilGirl. Love my StencilGirl stencils!
I did not gesso my pages first, I forgot to do it and I usually do. I guess I was in a hurry to create. I used a dry brush and applied Liquitex Heavy Body acrylics in light blue, cobalt blue, and lime green, then blended the colors with a wet baby wipe. I drew through the stencils of the bird/limb and bee. The flowers I stenciled on in white acrylic. I really liked the flowers white but then decided they needed color. I stamped spots on the background with a stamp from SU (the set is called Gorgeous Grunge). I used StazOn in Teal Blue and Forest Green. For the flowers/stems/leaves I used Silks Acrylic Glazes in Olive Vine, Jasmine and Sunflower. I stenciled the bird again and fussy cut it out and colored the bird with NeoColor II watercolor crayons, and attached it over the original stenciled bird using glue dots to lift it off the page a little. The branch and leaves, and bee were done with Pitt Artist Pens. I then applied glitter to the bird by mixing glazing medium with glitter and painting it on. I then added the words and finally used Gelatos to add a border to the page.
Please leave a comment if you visit, good or bad, I can take it!

Michigan is beginning to look like spring with all the flowering trees and the weather becoming warmer each day. I was out mowing yesterday and thought about stopping the rider and just sitting under this tree for a while, so breathtakingly beautiful but I was in a hurry to finish the day's chores. I did got down today and get some pictures, thinking they might be inspiration when I get a chance to work on some art again. I noticed the tree was filled with little bees just busy at work. We all need to keep our eyes open to the beauty that surrounds us everyday.

August submission for Limor Webbers group
The challenge for August is to use the colors red, orange, yellow, dark green, light green and gray on an art journal page. I knew I wanted to use the fish that I got from a magazine so that was the beginning. Added texture with dry wall tape and stencils. Thanks for looking and please leave a comment.
